New Future Chapter 3

Hinata nudged Naruto's leg. The blonde spotted the fox shinigami and picked her up. "Hey there girl." He said, patting Hinata on the head. "Did you wander out of the forest or something?" Naruto thought that Hinata had wandered out of the forest because, for one thing, Konoha City was in the middle of a huge forest. If it weren't for all the highways and roads coming through it, it would just be a city in the middle of nowhere with no way of getting to it.

Naruto put the little fox back down. "I don't know why, but you remind me of an old friend." Naruto said, thinking back to Hinata.

"Now, what should I call you? Shadow? Star? Rocket?" Naruto's heart clenched when he thought about naming the fox Hinata.

"But there's a little white patch on your forehead. Let's see... Light?" Hinata gave him a look. "Hikaru?" Hinata nodded and barked softly.

"Okay, you like Hikaru! From now on, you're Hikaru!" 'You got it!' Hinata thought. Naruto put her down.

"Ja ne, Hikaru-chan!" Naruto said, going back into his house.

Once he was out of sight, Hinata transformed back into her shinigami self. Hinata played with one of the ribbons that hung from her dress.

'How come I feel like I know him from somewhere?" Nostalgia swept through her, and she had a flash.

Flashback

The scene showed Hinata and Naruto standing in front of a grave. They looked younger, about thirteen. Hinata started to speak. "Naruto-kun, why didn't Sakura-chan come?" Naruto sighed. "She said it was too painful." Hinata looked down at the tombstone. ''I wonder how it feels... to have your heart broken like that." Naruto nodded.

End Flashback

The flash was over in an instant, and before Hinata could think anything of it, she had another painful flash.

Flashback

Again, Naruto and Hinata were in a cemetary, the only difference was the tombstone and the pink-haired girl standing next to Hinata. They looked a little older, maybe fourteen, fifteen. Hinata was crying, her head buried in Naruto's shoulder. He put a hand on her shoulder. "It's Okay, Hinata-chan." The tombstone read,

RIP

Hitomi Hyuuga

End Flahback

The fox shinigami blinked before one particular flash sent her to the ground screaming.

Flashback

Hinata tossed an orange rubber ball to a little boy shouting "Here you go!" The little boy caught the ball and ran in his yard. Hinata smiled. "Hinata! Watch out!" Hinata heard her friend Naruto's voice, but before she could relize what he had said, she heard the screeching of tires, and all she felt before going numb was searing pain. The last thing that registered in her mind before darkness consumed her was a shout of "Hinata!"

End Flashback

The blue-haired Hyuuga blinked, recalling what she had remembered. "I'm... not Hikaru. My name is... Hyuuga Hinata. I never wanted to... I never wanted to die! And, yet I... but... I have to see Naruto-kun and Sakura-chan!" Hinata yelled, jumping up and going to Naruto's house.

The blond sixteen-year-old was outside again, walking to his car.

After following him for a few minutes, she realized he was going to Sakura's house.

Hinata was inside of the Haruno house before Naruto even walked in.

The fox shinigami walked up to Sakura's room, desperate to see how her friend was doing.

Hinata walked in Sakura's room.

The pinkette's eyes were red and puffy, signaling she had been crying.

Her eyes opened, her emerald green irisis dulled to a greyish-green color.

Even though Sakura couldn't hear her, Hinata tried talking to her anyway.

"Sakura-chan... I know you're upset, but don't turn suicidal because of me! Onegai... Think of Naruto-kun, don't do this!" Hinata said, not even turning to look at Sakura.

Tears were streaming down Hinata's cheeks.

Hinata turned around.

Sakura had what seemed like hope shimmering in her dull eyes, but it soon faded.

'I thought I heard Hinata-chan's voice. It couldn't be. She... she's dead. Gone forever. It's just my mind playing tricks on me again.' Sakura thought, shaking her head.

She walked down to the kitchen, humming a tune, and as she reached the last step of the stairs that led to the kitchen, she started singing the actual song.

"Whispering to the growth of the blue Moon..."

Hinata remembered the song. It was called Blue Moon. She used to sing it all the time when she was a kid.

"Although its layer is chasing me, you just smile tenderly."

Sakura stopped when she reached the kitchen. She reached for one of the drawers and pulled out a knife. It was small, but sharp.

Hinata's POV

"Sakura-chan stop it!" I yelled at the top of my lungs but she couldn't hear me.

In a second she would be just like me, misrable, longing to live again.

I saw her put the knife dangerously close to her throat.

I could swear I heard her whisper, "Sayonara," but I wasn't paying attention.

I shut my eyes, waiting to hear the crude clash of steel and skin, but all I heard was a shout of "Sakura-chan".

I opened one eye, to see Naruto holding the knife Sakura just had.

"What are you doing?" He asked, and I thanked the Heavans he came in time to stop Sakura.

Sakura looked at him with tear-filled eyes, and in the most broken voice I had ever heard her speak in, she asked, "Why? Why did you stop me?"

Naruto grabbed her wrist. "Why? You're asking me why?" Sakura's eyes darted around, meeting anything but his eyes.

Her eyes focused on me, or whatever was behind me.

I looked over my shoulder, to see what she was staring at. It was a picture of Sakura, Naruto, myself, and... Uchiha... Uchiha Sasuke. There's someone I hadn't thought about in a while.

He was a cold-hearted bastard. After his brother killed his entire family, excluding himself his sister Tsuki, and Sasuke, the youngest Uchiha had changed. He was seven when it happened. We had known each other since birth, our parents being best friends. We were friends; not best friends, but he was a great person to be around. But he turned cold after the incident.

And after nine years of putting on a forced smile, his sister had finally cracked. Tsuki had killed hersef. Sasuke, only being eleven, was left completley alone. But, when he turned thirteen, he said he only had one wish... to die.

And, being Sasuke, he made it happen. He poisined himself, and was dead within hours.

I turned back to Sakura and Naruto. They were having a glaring contest.

"Sakura, that won't bring Hinata-chan back." Sakura closed her eyes.

"I know. But, I might see her... Don't you ever wish you could see Sasuke-kun again?"

Naruto nodded. "Sometimes. Come on, it's been three years, can't you just move on? You need to get over Sasuke, and I have to get over Hinata." "Yeah. Hey, remember back in the old days when you used to ask me out?"

Naruto nodded. "Well, I know I was a complete blockhead chasing Sasuke back then, but is it too late for me to accept?''

Naruto grinned that magical grin that when aimed at me, always made me feel dizzy.

I couldn't believe it, Sakura was going to go out with Naruto?

Then he said something that made my heart stop. "It's never too late."

Then, they kissed.

I flew out of the house.

Part of me was wishing that he saw me and would give chase, but the other part was glad I was invisable and never wanted to see him again!

I stopped.

Why... Why do I feel like this?

It started to rain.

I started to talk to myself.

"I shouldn't feel like this... Naruto said he needed to get over me. Does that mean he wants to forget me? It's probably for the best, his memories can't be clouded with friends from the past. Love... Sadness... Betrayal... these are normal feelings that anyone would have... But, me directing those feelings to Naruto... It means that I... IT MEANS I'VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH NARUTO-KUN!" I shouted as lightning flashed.

Sakura's POV

I had no idea what had gotten into me.

I didn't like Naruto... Hinata did.

Naruto... I don't care who you end up with, it just can't be me!

I loved Sasuke... I still do.

I pulled out of the kiss. "Gomen, Naruto. I-I don't know why I did that. I shouldn't have."

Naruto looked somewhat relieved. "Thanks. I love you Sakura, I really do, just more like a sister. Now I really know, I love Hinata. I just wish... " "She were here?" I finished for him. "Yeah..."

End POV

Hinata had flown out of Konoha, and into a clearing in the forest. Shinigami or not, she still had her limits and passed out in the clearing, rain pouring down on her. Her wings were damp, and her dress was tattered and dirty. She coughed a little before falling into darkness.

'Naruto-kun...'

A/N: Hope you liked it! I crammed a lot of stuff. Oh, and I put up a poll on my profile on who Sakura should be paired with,

and so far I have two votes, both for Sasuke.
