"Hinata, watch out!'' Naruto Uzumaki yelled to his friend, known as Hinata, although his warning came a second too late, as the indigo-haired girl dropped to the ground, being hit by a speeding car.
The blonde quickly started to dial 911, but slowly put the phone down when he saw Hinata's breathing steadily stop.
Sakura, Hinata's best friend, started to sob uncontrollably.
Blood dripped down Hinata's school uniform and her purple backpack, the thick red liquid traveling down the picture of herself, Naruto, and Sakura, which was dangling on a chain that was attached to her bag.
Sakura looked at Hinata, and tried desperatly to block out the Hyuuga girl's scream from her consious.
She could remember Hinata's death clearly...
Flashback
Hinata, Sakura, and Naruto were all walking to Naruto's, his house being the closest to their school.
Suddenly, Hinata saw a little boy, about five, maybe six, drop his ball in the street.
He was about to go get it, until Hinata jogged up and shook her head, saying she'd get it and it was too dangerous.
She looked both ways before crossing the street and picked up the small orange ball.
"Here!" She shouted tossing the ball to the little boy and giving him a warm smile.
"Arigatou!" He shouted, running back into his yard.
Suddenly a car whizzed around a corner, speeding. It was nothing but a silver blur.
"Hinata! Watch out!"
End Flashback
Sakura broke down when the ambulence came.
With Hinata:
Hinata opened her lavander eyes. Her sight was bleary, but soon cleared and she could see a crystal clear lake, a few sakura trees, some bright yellow roses and lavanders growing on dark green grass.
It was truley beautiful.
The Hyuuga girl could remember nothing, it was like her entire memory was wiped away.
She could remember pain, screaming, a light, peace, and then she was here.
"Hello." Hinata jerked her head up, looking into glassy purple eyes.
It was a girl.
She had indigo hair much like Hinata's own, beautiful purple eyes, and she was wearing a bluish-white robe. Her hair was tied into a ponytale with a green ribbon. She looked about twenty.
Hinata blinked.
"W-who are you?" Hinata asked.
The woman spoke calmly, it was gentle, like her aura.
"My name is Hitomi. Hyuuga Hitomi (If you've read the OC section of my profile, you'll know Hitomi is Hinata's older sister by 2-5 years. Her age will keep switching as you'll see with my other fanfics and OC'S. My OC's will probably be 20 or older in this fic.)."Hinata remembered the name Hitomi from somewhere, but couldn't remember where. "Hitomi-san... do you know who I am?" Hitomi was about to answer until she remembered what Tsuki, her friend said to her only a few hours before.
Flashback
Hitomi looked at the scroll in shock.
As the Angel of Death, it was her job to keep the deaths in proper order.
Without death, there is no life, thus ending life as we know it.
Hitomi had no idea what landed her this job. She guessed it was because of the rebellious attitude she had as a kid. Then again, it could've been the way she died. A plane crash... Go figure.
"Tsuki-chan, is this right?" Tsuki was a sei-tenshi, a full angel.
Tsuki could only nod her head. She had double checked the scroll. Hitomi looked back onto the paper. Names kept appearing, but the one she wanted to never see never dissapeared.
On the 'To Die' column of the list, sat the name Hinata Hyuuga. Tsuki looked at Hitomi, the Kuro's hands shaking violently. Tsuki's hands clenched into fists. "Hitomi-chan! You can't tell Hinata-chan who she is! She is destined to be a shinigami. After she completes her job, she can remember everything. Who she is, her previous life, and who we are. If she remembers beforehand, she will turn into a ghost, left to wander the darkness for all eternity. You don't want that to happen... do you?"
Hitomi closed her eyes.
Her little sister, sweet, innocent Hinata would become a ghost?
Wander the darkness for eternity?
Hitomi opened her eyes.
"Of course not! But..."
"Please Hitomi-chan! Don't do that to her... It already happened to Sasuke... I don't wish it upon anyone else."
Tsuki said, and looked down, unshed tears glimmering in her navy blue eyes.
Hitomi looked at Tsuki. The ravenette had always been strong, but she also had her weak points.
Whenever anyone brought up either Sasuke or Itachi, the sei would practically break down.
Hitomi put a comforting hand on Tsuki's shoulder.
"I won't, I promise!"
End Flashback
"You're name... " Hitomi started. "Is Hikaru. Hikaru Naruna."
Hinata blinked, not recalling any of those names.
She could remember two names that sounded like that... but nothing else.
Hitomi cleared her throat, Hinata's attention returning to the purple-eyed girl.
Hitomi placed her hands on her hips, a determined look in her eyes.
"Hin- I mean Hikaru, you have a job. You must become a shinigami.''
Hinata nodded her head in understanding.
''What's a shinigami?'' Hinata asked.
Well maybe not COMPLETLEY understanding... Hitomi sweatdropped. "A shinigami is someone who guids and protects people who are supposed to die. You'll protect them until their assigned death date."
Hinata nodded.
"Okay. Who am I supposed to protect?" She asked, still a little clueless.
Hitomi looked at the scroll in her hands.
"Shinigami's charges" was printed on the front.
Hitomi looked at the names at the top, and her eye's widened.
TO DIE:
Haruno Sakura
Uzumaki Naruto
Hitomi closed her eyes, took a deep breath and opened them again.
"Their names are Haruno Sakura and Uzumaki Naruto." Hinata's head snapped up, and Hitomi feared the worst, that she remembered her friends.
But Hinata soon relaxed, and said a small "Okay". Hitomi soon relaxed as well, relieved that Hinata remembered nothing.
At least... for now.
Hinata's POV
When Hitomi-san read off those names, why did I suddenley become fearful?
Maybe it's just my nerves... this is my first real job as a shinigami, after all.
And, why did I feel as though I knew Hitomi-san, and that my name wasn't Hikaru... I shook the feelings aside as I arrived in the Human World.
It seemed so familiar, yet diffferent.
I quickly relized my new wardrobe. Hitomi had said this would happen, and that this was the shinigami's uniform.
The uniform was made based on your nature and aura. It was a blue and white dress, and I was wearing dark blue heels. But what really suprised me was the two pure white wings on my back. There was a scroll on my hip pouch, and I guessed it was the names of other shinigami and their charges.
I couldn't be seen by anyone, and I had to find my charges quickly.
Konoha was a big city... one of the largest in Japan. I had a feeling this would take a while.
A/N: Well? How was it? Sorry it took so long! I still had school and my teachers wanted to pack as much homework in as possible. Well... all except my math and english teacher. They were acctually nice!
Review, or Temari and Ino will kill each other!
...No, I'm serious, They're still fighting!
Ino&Temari: OW! Don't pull my hair! Get off of me! HE'S MINE!
...Okay... review!
-Tsuki M. Uchiha
